Post player Noah Tack scored a game-high 16 points to go along with 10 rebounds in a 4-point win over Villanova, then scored 14 with eight rebounds in a decision over Grace Brethren. He has been the most steady contributor for the Cardinals this season in his first year as a starter.
Female Athlete of the Week: Santa Barbara High’s girls basketball team beat the powerhouse Buena Bulldogs for just the seventh time in coach Andrew Butcher’s 28 years last week, roaring back from a 19-2 deficit to win 46-41. It was the Dons’ first win over Buena since 2004. Tessa Emerson led the way, scoring a game-high 18 points. However, her biggest accomplishment was on defense, as she held the Bulldogs’ top scorer to 12 points, well below her average.
