Female Athlete of the Week Francesca DeAngelis of the SBCC women’s basketball team leads the 14-team Western State Conference in scoring at 20.1 points per game, and had another big game in the Vaqueros’ 77-65 win at L.A. Pierce last week. She had 23 points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals and two blocks.
Male Athlete of the Week Connor Pfefferle was one of San Marcos’ two Channel League wrestling champions on Saturday, winning the 147-pound division via pin. Earlier in the week, he won his bout in a head-to-head matchup with Dos Pueblos. Teammate David Billesbach and DP’s Chuy Lopez also won league titles.
