Dos Pueblos’ Chris Williams and Santa Barbara High’s Rocio Fesembeck were announced as Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Athletes of the Week on Monday.

The two student-athletes were recognized at the Women and Girls in Sports Luncheon at Earl Warren Showgrounds.

Fesembeck played a key role in the girls water polo team from Santa Barbara High winning a tournament title at the So Cal Championships.

Fesembeck recorded three goals and five steals in the championship match and scored three goals in the Dons’ semifinal win earlier that day. The Dons have won 16 straight matches now and are the No. 1 team in Division 1.

Williams helped lead Dos Pueblos’ boys basketball team to a pair of huge Channel League victories last week.

Williams scored 13 points and added three steals in Dos Pueblos’ 48-31 win over San Marcos on Friday night. In last Monday’s win over Buena, Williams was again a force with 12 points. The two wins for the Chargers elevated them back into the hunt for a Channel League title with just one week to go in the regular season.

Honorable mentions included Tyler Gilbert, SBCC Baseball; Nico Sorenson, Dos Pueblos Wrestling; Chad Lampe, Dos Pueblos Wrestling; Jason Ildefonso, Santa Barbara Soccer; Geoffrey Acheampong, Cate Soccer; Amber Melgoza, Santa Barbara Basketball; Andrea Ward, UCSB Swimming; Hope Grant, Carpinteria Water Polo; Kristen Holding, Westmont Track & Field.

The Athletes of the Week are selected each week by a panel of local sports media reporters. The candidates are identified by PresidioSports.com, Santa Barbara’s Community Sports News resource.
