Scholar Athlete of the Year

One goal of the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table is to promote the scholastic achievement. The Scholar Athlete of the Year Award was created to honor student-athletes who have excelled both academically and athletically. Even though the award is presented to only one individual per school per year, it is an acknowledgement that the community lauds the accomplishments of all who achieve in the classroom as well as in their sport.

The scholar-athlete is chosen by the athletic director in consultation with coaches, academic advisors, and administrative personnel. Criteria for the selection:
• The person nominated should participate in high-school varsity or college level athletics
• Academic qualification of the individual to be honored should include a 3.5 or better grade point average in conjunction with other scholarly activities such as honor societies or extracurricular activities such as science or culture club.
• This award has traditionally been given to a senior who is involved in school activities.
