Chris Evans brings home a pair of bronze medals from Fall Games

Chris Evans was presented the Special Olympics Athlete of the Month Award for his play on the tennis court. Evans won bronze medals in singles and double at the recent Special Olympics Fall Games in Orange County. “As a competitor, he rarely comes out of a competition without some hardware,” said tennis coach Liz Frech. “What I appreciate about him is his compassion and kindness to his teammates, most notably to his doubles partner. Andres Santa Maria is standout player on soccer team

Andres Santa Maria was presented the award for his solid play on the soccer field. “He has the ability to move from offense to defense like nobody else on the field. Carly Marmo was honored as the Scholar Athlete of the Year at Dos Pueblos during Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe. Chase Murphy is Santa Barbara High’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year award winner for the 2017-18 school year. He was presented the award at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon. Laguna Blanca’s Ty Trosky, SBCC’s LuLu Gilbert lead their teams to playoff victories

Laguna Blanca quarterback Ty Trosky and SBCC soccer player Lourdes Gilbert have been voted the Athletes of the Week by the local sports media. Trosky ran for three touchdowns and passed for pair to lead the Owls past top-seed Hesperia Christian, 42-36, in the CIF-Southern Section 8-man football Division 2 semifinals and into the championship game for the first time school history.
