John McGrath does it all in track; Kyle Simpson honored for golf

Two athletes were honored as Special Olympics Athletes of the Month at Monday's Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon. They are John McGrath for track & field and Kyle Simpson for golf. Coach Dan Weiner said McGrath is one of those special athletes that will try anything and has a great attitude. On the track, he does the 100, 200 and anchors the 4x100 relay. The Athlete of the Week award winners came from the pool at the final Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon of the 2016-17 school year. SBCC diver Gina Jacobson and swimmer Teodor Velikov of Dos Pueblos were named the winners at Monday’s Round Table press luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe. Santa Barbara High golfer Preston Gomersall and Westmont track & field athlete Madison Herrera were honored as the Athletes of the Week at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic round Table press luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe. SBCC baseball coach sends out a warning to regional playoff foe

Kelly Collins has been named Westmont College's Scholar Athlete of the Year for her participation on the women's cross country and track and field teams as well as her strong academic success. Santa Barbara track and field athlete Kiasa Salgado and San Marcos softballer Hailee Rios were honored as Athletes of the Week at Monday's Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon at Harry's Plaza Cafe. San Marcos softball looks for strong second half of Channel League play

The San Marcos girls softball team earned an emotional 8-4 win over Dos Pueblos last Tuesday and is a solid 5-1 in Channel League play heading into the second half of league matchups.
