Dos Pueblos swept the Athlete of the Week awards at the first Santa Barbara Athlete Round Table press luncheon of 2017 on Monday at Harry’s Plaza Cafe. Girls water polo player Ryann Neushul and Diego Riker of the boys basketball team received the honors for their performances last week. Alejandra Alvarez, Cory Blau possess the finishing touches for their teams

Carpinteria High’s Alejandra Alvarez and Westmont College’s Cory Blau had the finishing touch in games last week. Alvarez scored five goals in two matches for the Carpinteria girls soccer team and Blau poured in 28 points, including some clutch baskets down the stretch in regulation time and the second overtime of Westmont's conference-opening men's basketball win at The Master’s College. A pair of Dos Pueblos seniors were honored as the Athletes of the Week at the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon on Monday. Wrestler Ryan Fidel and girls basketball player Camila Casanueva received the awards for their performances in tournaments over the weekend. Katherine Sheehy of the SBCC women’s soccer team and San Marcos High basketball player Jackson Stormo were honored as the Athletes of the Week at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Café. Stormo was the leading scorer in San Marcos’ first two games of the season. Dos Pueblos football player Michael Elbert and Maddy Nicolson of the Laguna Blanca girls volleyball team were honored Monday as the Athletes of the Week at the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon. Elbert caught a touchdown pass and intercepted two Ventura passes in the end zone, helping the Chargers defeat the Cougars, 28-21, to earn a share of the Channel League title. Santa Barbara County cross country champions Erica Schroeder of San Marcos and Hunter Clark of Dos Pueblos were named the Athletes of the Week at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon. Schroeder ran away with her third straight girls county championship at Lompoc’s River Park in a 3-mile time of 17:41. Sawyer Rhodes was en fuego in the pool for Santa Barbara High’s boys water polo team and Sienna Scibird was calm and steady on the golf course for Bishop Diego last week.
