Senior Dylan Streett made several big plays to spark Bishop Diego to its first CIF-Southern Section football championship. Laguna Blanca’s Ty Trosky, SBCC’s LuLu Gilbert lead their teams to playoff victories

Laguna Blanca quarterback Ty Trosky and SBCC soccer player Lourdes Gilbert have been voted the Athletes of the Week by the local sports media. Trosky ran for three touchdowns and passed for pair to lead the Owls past top-seed Hesperia Christian, 42-36, in the CIF-Southern Section 8-man football Division 2 semifinals and into the championship game for the first time school history. Manny Nwosu put himself in the SBCC football record book and Lindsey Ruddins continued to tear it up on the volleyball court for UCSB. Bella Vigna of Dos Pueblos made Channel League history on the golf course. Henry Hepp played a huge game at middle linebacker to help Santa Barbara High football end a three-year losing streak against Ventura.
