The day's medalist hadn't been under par yet this season but did so easily with a bogey-free round that included seven birdies. NICK BERN, CATE SCHOOL Nick Bern of Cate School earned Athlete of the Week honors two years ago after he held the powerhouse Dunn boys soccer team to a season-low one goal. Soccer coach Dave Mochel called Bern the best high school goalie he's ever seen. Bern also is a standout track athlete.
