Jon Korfas led the San Marcos Royals basketball team to Channel League Championships in each year from 1979 to 1981. In his last two years, the “runnin” Royals posted a combined record of 50-2 appearing in the CIF Finals in 1981. Jon earned First- Team All Channel League honors in 1979, 1980 and 1981 and was named MVP in both 1980 and 1981. Jon was voted 1st Team All-CIF in 1981 and 2nd Team All-CIF in 1979 and 1980.

Following an impressive high school career, Jon attended USC during the 1981-1982 season and helped the team qualify for NCAA Tournament. In 1982, Jon transferred to Pepperdine where for the next four years, he played for Jim Harrick. Under Harrick, the Waves won two West Coast Athletic Conference Championships and played in two NCAA Tournaments. Jon earned Honorable Mention WCAC in 1985.

After college, Jon played professionally in Greece for nearly fifteen years. His team won the Greek Championship in 1992 and European Championships twice in the mid- nineties. At the conclusion of his playing career, Jon coached in Greece from 2000-2002.

Jon is currently the Head Coach of the boys’ basketball team at Santa Ynez High School where his teams qualified for CIF playoffs in two of the past three years. The journey to the CIF playoffs was flooded with exciting games including a 61-60 overtime victory over Cabrillo early in the season.
