Micheline Sheaffer White currently holds the Carpinteria High School discus record of 142’2″ that she set in 1987. A 1988 graduate, she was the Track and Field team MVP in her junior and senior years. Sheaffer was the Easter Relays discus champion in 1987 and 1988 as well as the Tri-Valley League champ in 1988. She still holds the TVL shot-put (38’S”) and discus (137’2″) records. A CIF champion and record holder, Shaeffer was the SBART High School Athlete of the Year in Girls’ Track and Field in 1988.

At UCSB Sheaffer was the team MVP in 1991 and 1992 and held the school record in discus (162’9″) from 1991 to 2004. She notched an Easter Relays Stadium record (162’+) in 1991. In the Big West, Sheaffer landed second in 1991 and third in both 1990 and 1992 in the discus and provisionally qualified for the NCAAs in 1991 and 1992. She was the SBART College Athlete of the Year in Girls’ Track and Field in 1992.

Sheaffer coached at Carpinteria High from 1993-96, helping develop another CIF champion female thrower. She currently lives in Colorado Springs, Colo., with her husband and 19-month-old son, Joseph. An elementary school teacher in California, Florida and Hawaii, Sheaffer is now taking time off from teaching to raise their son.
