For more than 30 years in the Santa Barbara Community, the name Sal Rodriguez has been synonymous
with the Boys Club, and more recently, with the Boys and Girls Club, as its Executive Director. It was a natural career path for Sal because he grew up playing basketball and baseball at the Goleta Boys Club in Goleta

Sal was the first four-year letterman and a four-year starter on the Varsity Basketball team at San Marcos High School. In 1962, Sal was the team captain, first team All Channel League as well as first team “All County.” He was All CIF, leading the team in assists and steals and leaving San Marcos High School as the career scoring leader.

He still holds the record for “Fouling Out” of the most games, sharing this record with Paul Menzel. Sal was inducted into the San Marcos Hall of Fame in 1966.

Sal states that his proudest moment was when the San Marcos Royals defeated the Santa Barbara Dons in four consecutive games. San Marcos was a new school, and beating an established Santa Barbara school with a great tradition was very emotional for him.

Sal lives in Goleta with his wife Arnie and his two children, Pamela (15) and Bo (13).
