First-year Santa Barbara High baseball coach Donny Warrecker wasn’t sure he’d have an experienced catcher at the start of the season. His worries were eased by the quick recovery of Samsun Keithley. A walk through downtown Carpinteria wasn’t a perilous journey for Warriors assistant football coach Rick Candaele last Saturday. Spectators can get in a workout at cross country meets

Cross country meets can provide a good workout and a stress release for fans, according to San Marcos coach Lawrence Stehmeier “It’s one of those sports where as a spectator you can exercise too,” Stehmeier said at Monday’s Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Café. “I used to run farther than the kids because I’d run for four races (2 JV, 2 varsity) instead of one.
